This diverse event has four phases; jumping, shooting, swimming, and running. It is an individual sport which combines the equestrian skills and human abilities. The jumping portion is at a level appropriate to the rating of the rider. Swimming takes place where it should, water. Laps are swam in predetermined lengths for different skill levels. Younger kids are also allowed to use swim aides! Competitors use air pistols for the shooting phase which consists of shooting at a distance target. Safety goggles are used at all times, and training is done before the competition. Finally, in the running portion, members usually run in a natural setting, although it can be done on a track. Obstacles can be introduced, but can be easily manuvered. Tetrathlon is a fun change from just riding!
